Whoopsie Daisies Mom!
With the temps being lower this upcoming week, it really is starting to feel like fall. With harvest in full swing, the smell in the air, and the leaves changing colors, there is a lot to be thankful for. Whether you are driving to work or stepping outside to smell the fresh air over your lunch hour, I hope you are able to take time to appreciate the beauty all around us.
We started the job of cleaning off the garden and will start preparing our area for next growing season soon. Always so bittersweet to say goodbye to our last blooms! Now did we start the project of cleaning off the beds a little early? Probably yes - was this because we were tired of battling the stickers, looking at powdery mildew, or because we didn’t want to do the job in the cold - all are possible contenders. Ha! I always tell myself that I will learn from my mistakes from previous years but when spring rolls around, I seem to have forgotten them and do it all over again BUT this year I took notes - so wishful thinking! :)
I am truly thankful for all of my helpers with this project. It makes the not so fun projects seem to be a little more fun. Sometimes we get distracted and have t0 pick flowers in the weeds or fight over who gets to run the winch but at the end of the day, we all sleep good and I’m thankful for a long hard days work done.
Do we feel a little bad for taking the flowers from the butterflies and bees a little early? Also, yes, so don’t worry, we saved a little patch for them, the chickens and ducks to rummage through until the first frost.
