Happy Thanksgiving!
With Thanksgiving coming up this week, I thought it was a perfect time to take a minute to appreciate what my entire family does in order to make Bell’s Blooms happen. Whether it is my Dad or my father-in-law, who is like another Dad to me, I am so thankful for them all! There are more people always helping behind the scenes but these past few weeks we got our beds ready for spring and I couldn’t have done it without them.
Dad very willingly letting me take his picture.
Before we got started with anything, Tom, my father-in-law, graciously tilled our strips in our new garden area. Then my Dad brought a semi load of manure/compost to be spread. If you were lucky enough to drive by, you would have been entertained watching me attempt to spread it with the skid steer. But hey, we all have to start somewhere and I got it done in double the time it would have taken anyone else.
After the compost was spread, Tom came down the highway in his little green tractor to till it in once more before this winter. He really shaped it up and got it looking nice before winter.
Always good to see the little green tractor coming down the road!
Note the dogs enjoying the manure. Insert hand in face here.
Once everything was tilled, I gathered soil to be sent in for a soil test and will make the necessary adjustments this spring. There is still plenty to do over winter to get ready for next spring, but I feel like I have a good start on the work.
As I said before, I am truly so grateful for everyone that does work behind the scenes for us. We couldn’t do it without them or without you as our customers. We can never say thank you enough!
Bell so pleased with her new vases.
On the note of being grateful, Bell was SO excited to unwrap some vases that someone so kindly dropped off for us! They were wrapped up like “presents” and she liked the purple and pink ones best. And I was informed she plans to put them in her room :)
Until Next Time,
